Glossary What does climate change mean?
Climate change
It is the result of man-made greenhouse gas emissions (primarily from the combustion of fossil fuels), which intensify the natural greenhouse effect and raise the average temperature.
In turn, the consequences of climate change include more frequent extreme weather events, heat, extinction of plants and species, rising sea levels, melting ice, conflicts over resources, housing and goods, as well as risks to human health caused by the spread of pathogens through more favourable climates for them.
