Freckenfeld wind farm

Facts and figures

  • Operating Company: EnBW
  • On the net since: 2018
  • Owned by klimaVest ELTIF since: 2021
  • Dimensions: 100 hectare
  • Manufacture: 50 GWh electricity per year
  • Rated power output: 19.8 MW

When klimaVest ELTIF added the Freckenfeld wind farm to its portfolio in 2021, the plant was already an integral part of the regional energy landscape. The land use plan was approved at the end of 2016 - after a comprehensive assessment of its compatibility with nature and environmental protection. Only two years later, the wind farm was connected to the grid.

Today, the six wind turbines supply around 15,000 1 2 households with electricity. Acceptance is guaranteed for 20 years via the statutory feed-in tariff. In addition, citizens also benefit economically: They can participate financially in the project via an EnBW participation model - with subordinated loans from 1,000 euros, with a term of seven years and 2.5 percent interest.

And there’s more: A municipal council resolution of 30 March 2023 paved the way for up to four additional plants. For us, Freckenfeld is a flagship project because it shows how the energy transition succeeds when everyone pulls together: operator, municipality, owner and environmental protection.
