Glossary What is meant by sustainable finance?

Collective term for sustainability-related activities in the financial sector (e.g. sustainable financial instruments). These include: ESG investments, impact investments, thematic funds and financial products with exclusion criteria. The term “sustainable finance” is increasingly being used by politics and in regulations. 

• In Germany, the Sustainable Finance Advisory Board is developing the Sustainable Finance Strategy
• The EU regulates the market through the EU Taxonomy (see Taxonomy) and the Disclosure Regulation (see Disclosure Regulation)
